With seven weddings to attend this year,  I’m in store for a lot of celebrations.  Since I love to travel and talk about travel, I always enjoy asking the couple where they decided to go on their honeymoon.

One of my good friends got married last year and I gave her a Carnival Cruises gift card as part of her wedding gift.  It was her first cruise, and I couldn’t be more excited for her to find out all the joys of cruising. She and her husband were incredibly sweet to tell us that she used the gift card for a city tour in Boston.  She even took pictures and sent them to us showing her appreciation.  The gift card worked out great as she was able to pick what she wanted to spend it on.

There are a few ways to a gift to someone if going on a cruise for their honeymoon including a way for couples to “ask” for a little help in paying for things on their honeymoon cruise.

Create a registry for your honeymoon cruise

If you’re the bride and groom and want to encourage people to give you money towards your honeymoon cruise, you can set up a honeymoon registry. The travel site, HoneymoonWishes.Com, is the partner for many of the cruise lines wedding registries.

According to the company’s website, “the registry is not just to manage registry funds, but is a social tool allowing wedding guests to become part of this special time interacting with the couples and their destination.”

You’ll be able to create a registry where you can pick out things you would like people to give you including: excursions, cabin upgrades, spa packages, art, and photos.  There’s even an Internet package if you want to stay connected at sea.  It’s convenient for wedding guests to be able to get you something you really want and easy to do online.  Once guests have completed their order, there is an option to print out a gift announcement that can go in a card or an e-mail can be sent to the couple.  Before a couple creates a registry, make sure to read the fine print as each cruise line has different rules and charges to make sure it’s right for you. Contact the Cruise Line to purchase a Bon Voyage Gift for the couple

By contacting the cruise ship directly, you can purchase a gift card or other types of items for the couple to receive while cruising.  If you don’t want it to be a surprise, I created a little “gift certificate” that I put in their wedding card.  It said how much the credit was for and that they would be getting it once they got on the ship.

A romantic escape awaits couples in the private indoor/outdoor spa villas at the Vista Spa and Salon aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

This worked out well as they were able to go on the tour that they wanted.   Click to read my previous blog post, “Bon Voyage Gifts! Surprise someone on their next cruise with a gift delivered to their stateroom” which has links to all the cruise lines gift options.

Limitless Options for the couple

And lastly, you can always give the couple cash with a cute note in the card saying “get something fun on your honeymoon on us”.  Whether or not they decide to do that it’s up to them but it’s a nice gesture.
