Food Photo Tour: Seaside Beach Club Restaurant at Impression Moxché by Secrets

Seaside at Impression Moxché quickly became our favorite restaurant during our stay and for good reason. My husband and I just got back from a six-night stay at Impression Moxché by Secrets in Playa del Carmen. We had a lot to celebrate including my birthday, our 10-year anniversary (which happened during COVID and went uncelebrated), and our 15-year wedding anniversary.

We went back and forth a million times trying to decide if we should splurge on Impression or stick with Secrets resorts. Spoiler alert: we went with Impression Moxche by Secrets, and it was worth every penny. Our two kids were off at sleepaway camp, which gave us a rare window to do something special. So yes, we did a lot of research and we wanted it to feel like a celebration.

And now, let’s get to the good stuff: the food, specifically at Seaside Beach Club Restaurant at Impression Moxché. According to the resort website, Seaside offers “Grilled Beachfront Bliss”.

Seaside is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner exclusively for Impression Moxché guests. As the name suggests, it’s set right on the beach. You can choose to eat indoors in the air conditioning or outdoors at tables set directly on the sand.

Throughout our six days, we tried a variety of restaurants on the Secrets Moxché property, but Seaside quickly became our favorite. In fact, we’d go as far as saying the food here rivaled some of our all-time favorite restaurants.

Breakfast at Seaside

The breakfast menu was so good that we couldn’t choose. We decided not to and ordered just about everything. (Vacation logic, right?)

You’re greeted by your server with freshly squeezed orange juice, a refreshing green juice, water, and coffee. There’s also a full mimosa bar with eight different juice options. As someone who uses non-dairy milk for coffee, I was blown away when they brought me steamed, foamy soy milk for my coffee. Game-changer.

And then there’s the pastry tray. Think pan dulce (Mexican pastries), tarts, and croissants. It was a nice treat as we waited for our food, however I declined at our next breakfast to save room other options.

Breakfast at Seaside felt calm and relaxing, which was a nice contrast to the hustle and bustle at the Market Café buffet. Some mornings even featured live music, including a harpist and a saxophone player.

And the service? Surprisingly fast. Even when we ordered way too much, the timing was spot on, and the staff made us feel like that was completely normal.

What We Loved for Breakfast

  • Burrata Toast: Hands down my favorite. The flavors worked perfectly together, and it was easily one of the best breakfast toasts I’ve had (and I order them often) They can vary from restaurant to restaurant so you never know.

  • Sourdough Pancakes: These were next-level. Light and fluffy with maple syrup, crispy bacon, and an apple-sage compote that made me feel like I was eating pancakes at a fancy brunch spot. The combination of the sweet (maple syrup) and salty (bacon) was delicious.

  • Cazuela: My husband loved this hearty dish with jocoque, shakshuka, serrano chili, chives, and pita bread. It had a little heat but was perfectly balanced.

  • Sopes: My husband’s top pick. At first, I thought it was an unusual breakfast choice, but he ordered it every single time we went.

  • Acai Bowl: Absolutely beautiful and Instagram-worthy. But to be honest, the acai itself was a little icy. The toppings, though, were fantastic. I’d still recommend ordering it once just for how gorgeous it looks.

Dinner at Seaside

While breakfast was our favorite meal at Seaside, dinner was where the creativity in the kitchen really shined. The menu changes to feature elevated dishes that feel like they belong in a high-end coastal restaurant.

Appetizers We Loved

The appetizer portions were just right, and the entrées were bigger than expected, which made for a nice balance.

  • Crab Claws – Served with a grain mustard and mayonnaise dip and fresh lemon wedges. Simple, fresh, and exactly what you want when dining by the ocean.

  • Al Pastor Sea Bass Tetela – Salt-cured sea bass sashimi with citrus emulsion and roasted pineapple purée. Three delicate pieces that literally melt in your mouth — do not hesitate to order if you like sashimi.

  • Crispy Bao – Tempura shrimp, cabbage, homemade pickled ginger, ají panca mayonnaise, and fresh jicama. One comes per order. We split one the first night… and each ordered our own the next. Lesson learned.

  • Scallop Tiradito – Green aguachile, lime sorbet, jicama, and cucumber. The lime sorbet sounds unusual at first with scallops, but it worked beautifully. A surprising flavor combination.

  • Taco Dorado – Shrimp stew, tomato, chipotle powder, onion, raw tuna, and guacamole. Not something I’d normally order as an appetizer, but this was a surprise hit.

Main Courses We Loved

We kept it simple (and a little repetitive) because once we found our favorites, we couldn’t resist ordering them every single time:

  • Caribbean Lobster – Served with beurre blanc, chili oil, and corn. Perfectly cooked, buttery lobster with just enough heat from the chili oil. One of the best dishes we had on the trip.

  • Bass with Miso-Mango – Paired with a fresh salad and tomatillo pico de gallo. Light, bright, and full of flavor. The miso-mango combo was unexpected but worked so well with the fish.

Lighting Fire, a surf-and-turf grill experience for at Seaside

Saturday Night: Lighting Fire Dinner

On Saturday nights, Seaside transforms into Lighting Fire, a surf-and-turf grill experience that’s only for Impression guests. It felt like a dinner event it was lively and fun, with a buffet setup.

Here’s what we found:

  • Grilled meats & seafood: shrimp, lobster, brisket, bone marrow, chicken thighs, and beef filet. (Tip: ask to try everything — you won’t regret it.)

  • Sides: mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, grilled cauliflower, corn, and little dinner rolls served in a skillet.

  • Cold bar: salads, ceviche, and a selection of cheeses.

  • Dessert: served directly to the table, the perfect ending to a hearty meal.

My favorite was the lobster (no surprise there), while my husband couldn’t stop talking about the brisket. If you’re a meat lover or seafood fan, you shouldn’t skip this dinner.

If You Only Order 3 Things at Seaside

Short on time (or just don’t want to overthink your order)? Here are my must-try picks:

  1. Burrata Toast (Breakfast) – Creamy, fresh, and perfectly balanced. My favorite dish of the whole trip.

  2. Crispy Bao (Dinner Appetizer) – Tempura shrimp + pickled ginger + a little kick = heaven. Trust me, order your own.

  3. Caribbean Lobster (Dinner Entrée) – Buttery, flavorful, and a standout main course. Worth coming back for again (and again).

Why Seaside Was Our Favorite

Spicy Agave drink at Seaside Beach Club at Impression Moxche

Seaside hit that sweet spot between casual beach vibes and elevated dining. We always left satisfied but never overstuffed, and the experience felt special every time. It’s a must-visit for anyone staying at Impression. There are many restaurant options on the Secrets part of the resort but this one ranks above all the others.
